Samsung Bixby is a set of artificial intelligence tools that make it easy for you to use your Samsung Galaxy phone and organize your life.
From voice activation with Bixby Voice to image recognition through Bixby Vision to artificial intelligence through Bixby Home, here are just five ways Bixby makes your life better.
Full Bixby capabilities are available on the Samsung Galaxy S9 and Galaxy Note 9. Limited capabilities are available on other Samsung Galaxy devices.
Use Bixby Voice to talk to your phone
Bixby Voice’s forte is that it understands voice commands. In particular, understand the commands that operate the phone. Any command you use via the touch screen can now be spoken on your phone.
When you want to send an email, for example, you’ll tell Bixby to open your mail app and send an email to your friend Sam. No more fumbling to open the email app, searching for an email address, and then sending the email on its way.
To use voice commands with Bixby Voice:
- Hold down the Bixby key on the side of your Samsung Galaxy phone.

Use Bixby Vision to take photos and find information
Have you ever come across a plant you’ve never seen before and want to know what it’s called? Maybe you want to find out what kind of dog your neighbor has. Or, maybe he’s worried that someone has stolen pictures from his website. If you want to find information but writing a description is too difficult, take a photo instead.
Bixby Vision makes it easy to visually search for information by using your phone’s camera to take a photo of the object you want to know more about, and then finding images similar to the object on the web.
To search for information using your phone’s camera:
- Open Bixby Home by pressing the Bixby key on your phone or by swiping it to the right on your phone.
- Scroll down the page to find the Bixby Vision card .
- Click Image .
When you don’t understand a foreign language, use the Bixby Vision Text tool to translate the text into your native language.
- Point the camera at the object. Bixby Vision tries to identify the object and shows suggestions.
- Touch the suggestion that matches what you’re looking for. Bixby Vision opens a list of matches.
If Bixby Vision suggests images that are not related to the image you want, try taking the photo from a different angle.
- Touch an image. Your default web browser opens to display the search results.
- Touch one of the search results to go to the web page for that image.
Use Bixby Vision to let your camera do the shopping
Have you ever flipped through a magazine, seen something you liked, and wondered where you could buy one just like it? With Bixby Vision, there’s no need to wonder. Bixby Vision uses your phone’s camera to identify the item and list stores that have it for sale.
To shop with Bixby Vision:
- Open Bixby Home .
- Scroll down the page to find the Bixby Vision card .
- Tap Purchases .
- Point the camera at an object. Bixby Vision tries to identify the object and displays a series of text results.
- 2. Click on the result that matches the item. Bixby Vision will display a list of matching products.
- Touch a product from the list to go shopping.
Use Bixby Home to find all your websites on one page
Wouldn’t it be convenient to find all your favorite websites in one place? With Bixby Home, you can see your social media feeds and your most visited websites from one convenient location.
Not only can you organize your life online, but you will also find other useful apps in Bixby Home. You’ll find an app to keep you up to date with the weather, a list of your most frequently used apps, quick access to your favorite songs on Google Play Music, and much more.
Bixby Home is organized into cards, and each card is a placeholder for all of these apps. If Bixby Home contains a card for an app you don’t use or don’t want to see, remove it. There are also more cards that can be added to Bixby Home.
To add a new card to Bixby Home:
- Tap the three vertical dots in the top right corner to open the menu.
- Tap Settings .
- Tap Cards .
- Move the slider to the On position for any app you want to display on the Bixby home page.
- Press Back until you return to Bixby Home.
Use Bixby to control your TV with your voice
Imagine not having to search through your TV’s menu options to find content, change brightness, switch to DVD player or change picture mode. Everything is possible with Bixby on your Samsung TV.
To use Bixby on a Samsung Smart TV:
